
Mrs. Bernardi's Class Description
Teen Issues is a semester exploratory class in which students learn
communication skills, conflict resolution skills and problem solving strategies.
They will practice the use of nonviolent processes to reconcile conflict
and build community through role play and group discussion.
These skills will enable them to advocate for themselves and others to be
safe and resolve conflict peacefully.
The class will
also include lessons in preventing substance use and abuse.
Students will study peer and societal pressures, stress, legal issues,
decision making skills and alternatives to using drugs.
The physical and emotional effects of drugs will be investigated while
incorporating effective resistance and refusal techniques.
