MR. BETTEZ – SOCIAL STUDIES

Week of June 1

Textbooks were issued to all students.  They must bring them home to be covered (I have some covers in school for those who don't have any at home, brown bags are fine if you can find them!).  Books should stay in class unless there is an assignment in the text that needs to be done at home.

Students are now studying Ancient India.  This unit of study will take us to the end of the year.

Last week students learned about the basic beliefs of Hinduism and created a Mandala, an object used to focus the attention during meditation.  In their Mandala, students created five symbols representing the five basic beliefs of Hinduism and explained how they related to each other.

This week students, working in groups, will teach other students about the key events in the life of the Buddha by performing a skit and analyzing overheads depicting the Buddha's life.  The goal of the lesson is to discover how each event contributed to his eventual "enlightenment".

Students are assessed on completion of a graphic organizer and their understanding of how the events may have contributed to Buddha's eventual enlightenment.

MR. DESAULNIERS – ENGLISH

Out sick?

This is a good time to get ahead on your reading.  Remember to complete quote sandwich book reports.  They may be handed in ahead of schedule to exceed the standard.

When you return to school, copy the missed assignments from another student’s agenda and notebook. See me at lunch or during homeroom if you have questions.

Consider attending extra help sessions on most Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Stay home until you feel better…thanks.

                    Sincerely,

                             Mr. Desaulniers

MS. PINTO – MATH

If you are absent, please make sure you check the absent bin for any missed assignments upon your return.   Get notes from a reliable person in your class & see me if you've missed a quiz or test.
