This week’s theme-
Bible Battles: The Rise of the Israelites
·
Students have the
2.4 quiz on Thursday this week. Students should be studying entries 42-46.
This quiz is longer than the standard 10 question “book quiz”.
·
Students can also
expect the chapter 2 unit test the week before Christmas vacation. We will
cover section 2.5 the end of this week and the beginning of next.
·
Students will
receive the study guide for the unit test on Monday (12/14) of next week.
·
Although many
times there is not written homework, students should be reviewing all current
entries. The unit 2 test will cover binder entries 28, 29, 31-52
·
The unit test
will be on Monday, December 21.
·
New!!! There
are now audio versions of the textbook sections we are covering that can be
accessed through my website. “Rise of the Israelites” is now posted on my
site to be listened to or downloaded…it is a standard .mp3 file.
Google has undergone some
changes with its service. My website address has changed to
http://sites.google.com/site/mrhowman/
I believe that
you can still go to the old address and be redirected to the new, but I’m not
sure how long that will last.
Most times the activity
can be completed without a textbook. There are not enough textbooks to
send home for every student who is absent, so if the activity does need a
textbook students can make that assignment up when they return to school.
Math
with Mrs. Banspach
Math:
Two big
“events” this week: Quiz and POW!
This week’s
quiz is on percents and proportions. Students should have several practice
problems from homework - in class tasks in their binders. We have gone
over everything, so all correct answers should be recorded. A quick study
guide will also be going home to help them prepare. A period quiz is Wed.
All other classes will have their quiz Thurs.
POW: Enlarging
the Picture.
A period: Will
be given out on Friday and then due next Friday the 18th
D and F
periods: Will be given out on Tuesday and due next Tuesday the 15th
E period: Will
be given out on Monday and due next Monday the 14th
Have a great
week!

ELA with
Mrs. Ballard
Students are
writing short 10-line poems in response to Edward Hopper’s painting House by
the Railroad. Students should create a mood for their reading
audience through setting description and effective vocabulary. These ideas have
been taught in class. We will begin a short study of the Legend of King
Arthur, destiny, chivalry, and Sir Gawain.
Vocabulary
quiz on Friday! There
will be a review on Thursday. Vocabulary words are utterly, desolate, pseudo,
devoid, vacant, Gothic, expectant, and mansard.
