Computer Literacy

Most sixth graders will take a half-year of computer literacy on team.  This program is designed as for all abilities.  Students’ progress at their own pace, and an individual’s speed and accuracy are recorded and stored by the computer daily.   Hard work and practice will be reinforced as they see their typing skills improve over time.  This class will meet every other day, with a goal of being proficient at touch-typing by the end of the semester.  Some computer applications will also be taught, and time will be allowed to work on team projects and assignments during computer class.

Your child will get out of this class what they put in.  Patience and hard work will be rewarded in the end.   Typing is a necessity in the modern world, and they will make their life a lot easier by mastering this skill.  Practice is the key to success.

Practice each day for 15-20 minutes.  Use proper technique while practicing including keeping your fingers on the home row and not looking at he keys.  Another way to practice is to type your homework instead of writing it by hand.  This will improve your typing skills and you can complete your homework at the same time.  The important part is to use proper techniques at all times.
