6th

As of the 2007-2008 school year, 6th grade students will not be included into National Junior Honor Society. Students must demonstrate academic proficiency throughout this school year and continue their academic success into 7th grade. Eligible students will be able to apply for NJHS membership as 7th graders.

How to Join NJHS:

NJHS is open to all 7th and 8th grade students who have maintained honor roll status for both trimesters. At the beginning of trimester 3, the National Junior Honor Society advisors, Ms. Chauvette and Ms. Paon, will look at those students who made honor roll for both trimesters 1 and 2 and determine those 7th and 8th grade students eligible to join the National Junior Honor Society.  It is also an important time to see which students have not met the requirements and thus are in danger of losing their 8th grade NJHS status.  Those students eligible to join NJHS will be contacted by the advisors and they will receive a packet which will become their responsibility to fill out and turn in by the due date.  All of this information will be accessible on the NJHS website, and will be announced during the morning announcements.

Community Service Opportunities:

At this time, students could take advantage of the opportunity to volunteer at the Coventry Public Library. The Youth Services Department is seeking teen volunteers to assist with their 2011 summer reading program for preschoolers through grade 5. Volunteer activities include decorating, assisting with programs, and book crediting. If you are interested, please call the Youth Services Department at 822-9102.

*We encourage students to do community service and keep track of their hours even if they are not members yet. These hours will still count towards membership once they are inducted into the honor society.
