1. The Haunting by Joan Lowery Nixon
2. This book is about a girl named Lia and a place called Greymoss. Lia needs to find out who, or what is haunting Greymoss.
3. When Lia’s great-grandmother dies, she gives Lia a diary. The diary had been her great-grandmother’s when she was a child. During the Civil War, she wrote about her life and about this one man called
Mr. Slade. Mr. Slade was not a good man. Charlotte, Lia’s great-great-grandmother, and grandfather gave Mr. Slade a cottage to live in, but it was not enough. Mr. Slade swore he would get everything that Charlotte’s grandfather owned, including her.
4. The characters in this book are Mr. Slade, Lia, Lia’s mom (Ann), Lia’s
dad (Derek), and Lia’s grandmother. In the beginning (in the diary,)
the setting was during the Civil War. The place was Bouge City.
5. My favorite part of the story is when Lia goes into the house after dark, and feels goats whispering and she finds a skeleton smashed in the dirt in the wine cellar. She believes that it is Mr. Slade’s body.
6. I really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes
adventure and horror. I would read it all over again, because it is
that good. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate it a ten.
