Directions:

As if they could use a computer, write a series of Instant Messages between two or three characters in your book.  Put a note on the top of your Instant Messages to explain when these characters might communicate with each other during the books action.  (A minimum of two sets of Instant Messages)

Author: Anonymous

Summary:  This book is about eight real teens in their junior year of high school.  They write diary entries about what goes on in their lives, their opinions on different subjects and their likes and dislikes.  The people in this book that are describing their junior year are Emma West, Baxter Edward, Kevin Moran, Jake Barosso, Marybeth Miller, Billy Shim, Teresa Falcane, and Katie Carsom.  They tell about rumors in school, their boyfriends or girlfriends, who they like, the prom and many other things that go on in their lives.

Set 1

This set of Instant Messages is from Emma and her boyfriend named Cliff. They talk every night on the phone or online about anything that has been going on.  This series is when Emma finds out Cliff got his first job and Emma hates that she never gets to see him as much as she used to.  Emma wants to be with him more but the only time she could see him is on Sunday and Monday, and she isn't extremely happy.   Cliff's screen name is NFLfreak8011 and Emma's screen name is IloveCliff143.

NFLfreak8011:  Hey Emma, what's up?

IloveCliff143: Hey honey, nothing really going on here.  I'm just watching Friends.  How about you?

NFLfreak8011: Well, I got my new job but there's a bad part to it, I can't go out with you on Friday night now because I have to work. I'm really sorry but I'll try and make it up to you...O:)

IloveCliff143: Well, I guess that's okay, but when can I see you so we can hang out?

NFLfreak8011: I'm really sorry, babe, but I need the money, and also now I'll be able to get a car and save up for college and get you stuff for like your birthday and Christmas.

IloveCliff143: I know, but I just wish I could see you more because I like being with you and now I can't.

NFLfreak8011: I'll make it up to you though. I promise.  I'll take you out to the movies on Sunday.  You'll have fun.  I love you Emma.

IloveCliff143:  Okay, I'm sorry about yelling. I just don't like being away from you.  I love you too.

Set 2

Summary: This series of Instant Messages is between Kevin and Katie when they get into a fight about the rumor going around about their friends Sherelle and Becky.  Kevin and Katie are friends but they had different views on what happened between Sherelle and Becky. In this series of Instant Messages, they are talking about what happened and that what Katie said about the incident was not the best thing to say at the time.  She blamed it all on one person when it was both Sherelle's and Becky's faults. Kevin's screen name is PartyMaster127 and Katie's screen name is DramaQueen 676.

PartyMaster127: WHY DID YOU SAY THOSE THINGS ABOUT SHERELLE WHEN YOU KNOW FOR A FACT THAT WHAT YOU SAID WAS COMPLETELY WRONG?

DramaQueen676: I just said it because I wasn't thinking about what I was saying at the time.  I know what I said was wrong and I'm sorry.  I don't want you or anyone else mad at me .

PartyMaster127: WELL, GUESS WHAT I AM MAD AT YOU BECAUSE WHEN THAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR, SHERELLE WAS IN MY ARMS CRYING FOR 3 WEEKS BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS AGAINST HER. IT WASN'T ALL HER FAULT, AND YOU KNOW IT.  A BUNCH OF PEOPLE ARE REALLY MAD AT YOU BECAUSE OF THAT. YOU  KNOW THAT RIGHT?

DramaQueen676: Yeah, I know that but I'm sorry for what I said, I know that it was Becky's faulty to in a way, but Sherelle shouldn't have gone after her boyfriend in the first place.

PartyMaster127: I KNOW BUT SHERELLE WASN'T ALL THERE WHEN THAT HAPPENED, AND BECKY WAS MAD AT HER BOYFRIEND AT THE TIME.  IT'S NOT JUST SHERELLE'S FAULT.  THEY'RE BOTH RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENED.

DramaQueen676: I know and I'm sorry for what I said, and I'll tell Sherelle and everyone else that I'm sorry .  I don't want anyone mad at me because I don't want to lose my friends over this.  Can we just let it go?

PartyMaster127: YEAH WE CAN, AND I'M STILL A LITTLE ANGRY BUT I KNOW YOU'RE SORRY, JUST THINK BEFORE YOU SAY SOMETHING NEXT TIME.
